Before Driving Your Vehicle

"Break-in" oil has not been installed in your Shelby Lancer. During its assembly, the oil was drained and Mobil 1 5W/30 was added. Mobil 1 is a synthetic oil and was chosen for its ability to protect the Shelby Turbo motor. Peak operating perfomance of your Shelby Lancer can be maintained with the use of Mobil 1. Therefore, if the motor should require the addition of oil before the regular scheduled maintenance, be sure to use Mobil 1.

Special driving practices are not required for a specific mileage period. Rather, the only concern during the first few thousand miles and thereafter is to check the oil and water levels on a regular basis.

Starting and Operating

When starting your Shelby Lancer DO NOT use the throttle. The car should start just by turning the key to the start position. If the car does not start, return the key to the off position. Wait, then repeat the process. If the car refuses to start after several attempts, call your local Shelby dealer and describe the problem.

When starting a Shelby Lancer with a manual transmission, depress the clutch and shift to neutral before turning the key. The car is not equipped with a switch to prevent it from starting when it is in gear.

When starting a Shelby Lancer with an automatic trans-

mission be sure the car is in "Park" or "Neutral", otherwise it will not start.

Pioneer Compact Disc Sound System

Your Shelby Lancer is equipped with a premium Pioneer Sound System not available on any other Dodge or Shelby product. The system is composed of the compact disc player, 9-band graphic equalizer, two amplifiers, and a "10-way speaker system." Please refer to the Pioneer Owner's Manual located in the glove box for proper use and warranty information.

Should you experience a problem with the stereo system, servicing should be obtained from your nearest Shelby dealer.

Tires

You Shelby Lancer has as original equipment Goodyear Gatorback tires. To ensure they wear properly, maintain tire pressure at 32 psi, front and rear. Check tire pressure frequently to insure long life.

Note: Alignments and wheel balancing are not covered under any Shelby Automobiles Limited Warranties, Chrysler Motors Limit Warranties or Goodyear Limited Warranties. They are the responsibility of the owner.

Fog Lamps

The fog lamp switch is located to the right of the head lights switch. They only operate when the head lights are on low beam. Switching to high beams via the turn signal stalk cancels the fog lamps. Switching back to low beam does not turn the fog lamps on. You must press the "ON" switch again. The fog lamps switch off automatically when the head lights are switched off.
