1986 GLHS Owner's Manual
Settings and Adjustment Procedures
The following is a description of the various settings and the adjustment procedure.
City Ride:
To enjoy the most comfortable city ride, the shocks should be left in the "minimum" position as they come in the car.
Setting: Minimum, completely clockwise.
Cross Country:
The cross country setting will give the car a firmer handling characteristic, but yet be very comfortable to drive.
Setting: 1/2 turn counter-clockwise.
G.T./Aggressive Driving:
This setting equates the car's handling to a cross country grand turismo car, offering increased cornering ability, improved road feel, and precise directional stability at higher speeds
Setting: 1 turn counter-clockwise.
Competition:
The competition setting is for those who want to run the car on the race track and offer true race performance. Due to its harsh riding characteristics, this setting is not recommended for street usage.
Setting: Full turn counter-clockwise.
Inspection:
During lift inspection/servicing/tire rotation, etc., a thin film of oil and dust collection may be noticed on the outside shock tube. This is a normal condition which occurs during the shock internal seal "break-in" period and does
not affect the performance of the shock and does not indicate the need for shock replacement. Shock replacement should only occur if the damper oil leakage is sufficient to cover the entire shock tube and has "dripped" onto the lower control arm or onto the pavement during overnight parking.
